Our Interests: Physical and Community Regeneration

We have been involved in a wide range of regeneration projects in areas like Haldane, Foxbar and Ferguslie Park.

We are able to bring together several areas of our expertise when we work in regeneration – our understanding of physical development; our passion for engaging communities; and our project management skills.  We often lead multi-disciplinary teams (involving architects, surveyors, engineers and urban designers) in this work.

Community Involvement

We undertook three major development studies for Glasgow Housing Association – in Sighthill, North Toryglen and Shawbridge.  In each case we led a multi-disciplinary team to deliver workable, sustainable plans for the area.  At the heart of this was the involvement of the community.  We organised information meetings in every block; developed and supported a group drawn from residents who met regularly to input their suggestions; delivered good quality newsletters to every house on a regular basis; and held exhibitions and open days to encourage input.

We have undertaken similar regeneration studies in Inverclyde.

Feasibility Studies

We also carry out feasibility studies and options appraisals of individual buildings which may have an impact on regeneration.  Examples include the feasibility of converting a derelict church building for community use; the development of a site in central Edinburgh as a centre for homeless people; and a feasibility study of the establishment of a ‘one-stop’ shop for community and public services in Ayr.

We are currently supporting Strathclyde Building and Preservation Trust to prepare an options appraisal for Pollok Park Gate lodge.
