Our Interests: Community Learning and Development
We know the theory:
- For a number of years we prepared and kept up to date the Scottish Centre for Regeneration’s on-line How to Guide for Community Engagement.
- And we wrote the Scottish Government’s Guidance on Community Capacity Building for Community Learning and Development staff.
And we know the practice:
- We are supporting the Community Forums in West Dunbartonshire – and the community planning partners - to develop their skills and increase the opportunities for community influence over local decisions.
- We supported four communities in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire by acting as their ‘research mentor’ – transferring skills to local people so that they can undertake action research.
In all our work we follow the National Standards for Community Engagement. All our staff are Enhanced Disclosure checked – which is important given that we work with young people in some of our projects and with vulnerable people in others.
